About Lynden URC
Our Formation:
On January 19, 1997,
nineteen households with the vision of cultivating a
Christ-centered, Gospel-preaching, confessionally-Reformed
witness, met for an inaugural worship service in the
Ebenezer Christian School gymnasium. On March
21, 1997, the United Reformed Church was officially
organized and accountable to the Federation of the
United Reformed Churches in North America. In the
few years that followed our membership outgrew the
available rental facilities, and, again, our
Heavenly Father blessed us with a worship facility
on Benson Road in June 2000. Today we are
blessed to have around 95 families who gather every
Lord's Day to worship and glorify God through Word
and Sacrament. |

Our History:
Lynden United
Reformed Church
is a member church of the United Reformed
Churches in North America
(URCNA).
The URCNA is a federation of churches that came
into existence in October 1996. While a
young church, we trace our heritage from the
apostles down through the great Protestant
Reformation of the 16th Century.
Therefore, as a historic Christian and
Reformed church, we believe that the
Apostles'',
Nicene , Athanasian, and Chalcedonian creeds
summarize the biblical doctrines of the Holy
Trinity and the two natures united in the
one person of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As a Reformed and Protestant church, we
affirm the 5 Solas of the Reformation,
namely, that Scripture alone is our only
infallible guide for faith and life, that we
are saved from sin and eternal wrath by
God's grace alone, because of the perfect
righteousness of Christ alone, which is
received not by our goodness, but through
faith alone, and all of this for the glory
of God alone.
To summarize the Reformation doctrines, we
confess the "Three Forms of Unity," which
are the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg
Catechism, and Cannons of Dort. We
wholeheartedly believe that these creeds and
confessions faithfully summarize "the faith
which was once for all delivered to the
saints" (Jude 3)
