Our Mission:
|
|
To call sinners from
guilt before God the
Father, into our only
comfort, the grace of
God the Son, and to
equip them for a life of
gratitude in God the
Holy Spirit.

On January 19, 1997,
nineteen households with
the vision of
cultivating a
Christ-centered,
Gospel-preaching,
confessionally-Reformed
witness, met for an
inaugural worship
service in the Ebenezer
Christian School
gymnasium. On
March 21, 1997, the
United Reformed Church
of Lynden was officially
organized and
accountable to the
Federation of the United
Reformed Churches in
North America. In the
few years that followed
our membership outgrew
the available rental
facilities, and, again,
our Heavenly Father
blessed us with a
worship facility on
Benson Road in June
2000. Today we are
blessed to have around
95 families who gather
every Lord's Day to
worship and glorify God
through Word and
Sacrament.

2006
Pacific Northwest Reformation
Conference The Last Days: What
Does the Bible Teach? |
| |
Our recent
2006 Pacific Northwest Reformation
Conference was a great blessing both
to the members of the LURC and to
the people in the surrounding
region. Dr. W Robert Godfrey
gave three lectures, including an
exposition of Matthew 24 and Romans
11. In these lectures Dr. Godfrey
showed that Reformed Christians are
not "replacing" Israel with the
church. According to Ephesians
2, the "two are made one", thus the
church is brought into Israel as a
fulfillment of the promises made to
Abraham. Dr. Michael S. Horton
explained how the temple
descriptions given in the latter
chapters of Ezekiel do not point to
a man-made temple, but rather to the
heavenly eschatological temple that
Christ builds in glorious
fulfillment. If you would like
copies of these lectures, please
contact
Rev. Christopher J. Gordon. |

Our Convictions: |
 |
|
Word and Sacrament as
Means of Grace:
We
believe that Jesus
Christ has appointed
special means of grace
to nourish and
strengthen the faith of
his body, the church.
We live in a day,
however, of pluralism,
pragmatism, and an
"anything goes" approach
to the ministry of
Christ's church.
This man-centered
approach has left many
churches fragmented, and
spiritually
mal-nourished for their
greatest need, Jesus
Christ. We believe
through the pure
preaching of the gospel
and the right
administration of the
sacraments, God chooses
to bless, nourish, and
strengthen his church as
she fulfills her task of
being a witness to all
the nations.

The Centrality of the
Gospel of Jesus Christ
and the Urgency of the
Call:
The Apostle Paul said,
"For I determined not to
know anything among you
except Jesus Christ and
Him crucified. (1 Cor.
2:2)" We believe that
Christ should be
preached from all of
Scripture, and that
every sermon should
direct us to his person
and work on the cross to
save sinners.
Moralism is a dangerous
trend in our day that
emphasizes earthly gain
and earthly happiness at
the expense of
proclaiming Jesus
Christ's life, death, and
resurrection. We believe
in a proclamation that
includes both law and
gospel. Law
exposes our sin and
misery, and the gospel
points us to salvation
in Jesus Christ.
We believe all men
should be called to
repent and confess their
sin, and flee to Jesus
Christ in true faith to
receive forgiveness of
sins and cleansing
through his blood.
